Sound Bath Center Tips:

What to expect at a soundbath, what to expect at a sound meditation : Expectations for locals, international clients and even virtual soundbaths here or anywhere else.

How to Prepare for a Soundbath

From what to wear, what do before and even what to do after, Blissful Serenity Houston soundbath center will give you a breakdown as it is well versed in delivering both in office, long distance and even at home sessions. Virtual soundbath sessions also have a to do list to prepare before and after a soundbath so we share a list below for all to enjoy!

What to do before a soundbath?

Blissful Serenity Soundbath Center Houston was birthed in Los Angeles and Houston, two of the largest cities in America so we know how to help our busy clients relax for their soundbaths so here are some key takeaways.

1) Be comfortable and dress with this in mind:

Before a soundbath, it is a good idea to prepare a comfortable outfit. You can wear layers in case you get hot or cold—it’s interesting how the body temperature changes during a soundbath. You should find out if it will be seated, or lying down and what type of surface you will be on. This is especially important if you suffer from backaches as many public soundbaths events will likely prompt you to bring a yoga mat to drape over a concrete floor . At Blissful Serenity we offer luxury experience and our clients just need to show up ready to relax, rest and be comfortable. We provide disposable sleep masks to help people go into a deep meditative state but if you go elsewhere you may want to bring your own if they do not provide one or if your prefer not to use community shared items (to prevent pink eye etc). At our soundbath center in Houston we provide an assortment of pillows and blankets but again, check with your local soundbath center, especially if it is a public event, and chances are the less you pay, the. more you are expected to lug around and carry around with you to join in a group experience. Private soundbaths may have a higher price tag but they have a bunch of perks that come with that including the peace from knowing it’s all about you which brings us to our next point.

2) Get ready to disconnect from the world and put your phone in airplane mode.

Read that again: go into airplane mode and turn off ALL NOTIFICATIONS. Switching to silent mode is surprisingly not enough nowadays. If your phone vibrates during your soundbath you will ruin your own experience. We’ve seen this happen to clients who don’t get the memo—they end up being jerked and scared out of their special sound healing experience which is very unpleasant because when you are having a deep rest and going into such a restorative experience, it feels like some of the most wonderful rest you have gotten for years! It’s like having a super powerful nap cycle and preserving the power of the experience is easy—it’s as simple as going into airplane mode, leaving any stressors behind or even turning your phone off. Why is this something we are trying to drive home? How would you feel if everyone stared at you because an Amber Alert went off from your phone, or because you got a loud, disruptive notification from an app, or a persistent phone call from someone? You would be embarrassed and possibly even asked to step out and depending on the policies set forth by the soundbath practitioner, you may even be banned from coming back so as to avoid ruining the experience for others in the future. Also, here’s something to consider and introspect about: if you’re going on a special experience to unwind at a soundbath center or sound therapy office, wouldn’t you want to quiet the world outside of you so that you can finally have some peace and quiet, and possibly the best inward experience? You probably deserve the uninterrupted quiet time (something that is rare to come by these days).

3) Virtual Soundbaths are a bit different, here’s what to look for in advance.

Virtual Soundbaths can offer a great alternative to in person soundbaths but there are also some things that you can do to prepare for this special sunbath experience from home or while traveling. You may want to use a comfortable pair of headphones that can connect to your tech devices (double check if the two items connect to each other) and make sure that you charge the battery of any bluetooth head set or ear pods you wish to use. Oh, and make sure that laptop charger or phone charger is handy to keep the battery life going! Find a quiet space and make it comfortable to enhance your experience. As mentioned above, be willing to go into airplane mode and quiet your electronic devices, adjusting the settings on your laptop or desktop to minimize disruptions. Find out what platform your soundbath practitioner will use so that you can be ready on a digital level. This means to make sure that your software is up to date. For example, Zoom may require a software update but this in turn may require a computer update too! Computers can take anywhere from 15-45 minutes for a software update so it’s best to check out how you’re doing on your devices AND on Zoom, catching up on any pending software updates. This is important because it will help you maximize the time that you are allowed for your virtual soundbath session. You may want to log in to Zoom early just to make sure that you still remember your password. You may also need to adjust the computer settings to give Zoom permission to use the microphone so you could even practice to make sure you are 100% ready for your virtual soundbath. Save the soundbath center’s email so that the link doesn’t accidentally end up in the spam folder or your email’s junk box.

4) After the session you may want to set aside some peaceful, quiet time for reflection, journaling and a soothing bath to detox both your mind and your body.

. Document any special experiences and sensations that you felt and express how you feel. Sometimes when the body let’s go of stress, tension and trauma, you may notice that in the time following a soundbath you may be releasing some repressed emotions, be a bit more sensitive for a bit and this is normal. For there, the opposite is true and they are just filled with so much positive energy, relations vibes or oscillate between emotions releasing, feeling moody and feeling great! The key is to just go with the flow and if you notice anything bubble to the surface, it’s time to eco bring out that journal again and write about it. Journaling helps you to release, moving a thought or a feeling from being in your brain to being put on paper so that you can let go and decompress. It is also an excellent idea to have a nice, cozy bath with epsom salts to help you let go of any toxins that may have been stirred for your body to release easily. Drink plenty of water and healthy fluids to help you move toxins out of your body and out through your excretory and urinary system. This may raise eyebrows but sound moves through everything, even atoms so it makes sense that things will be shaken up and stirred in the body so it’s prime time for flushing out toxins and letting go of the unwanted. Consider scheduling some quality time grounding in nature too, resting under big beautiful tree and either meditate or read a book for additional grounding and detoxing time to really take your post soundbath experience to the next level. We hope this was helpful and hope to see you at one of our soundbaths so that you can try something new and get the quality “me time” that you truly deserve. Good luck out there! 🍀
